Accreditation and Licensing Centre

The Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure in consultation with the Premier’s Taxi Council, established the Accreditation and Licensing Centre Passenger Transport, conveniently located at Building 17A 71 Transport Avenue Netley. With the Taxi Council SA (TCSA) also located at this address, a ‘one-stop-shop’ service is available to the industry.

The Accreditation and Licensing Centre (ALC) was established to streamline services to the passenger transport industries. All passenger transport vehicle registration, accreditation and licensing enquiries can be directed to ALC to allow us to better serve you.

To obtain or renew driver accreditation, operator accreditation or add, delete or replace a vehicle on your accreditation, simply visit the ALC where your application can be assessed, approved and finalised by payment and the issue of the appropriate documents. No longer do you have to attend different outlets to obtain accreditation – it can all be completed at the ALC Netley.

Any transactions that do not necessarily require TCSA approval (e.g. public passenger vehicle registration renewal, annual installment payment for operator accreditation and driver accreditation renewals where there are no issues on the Medical and Eyesight Certificate or National Police Certificate) can also be completed at the ALC.

ALC staff is available from 9am to 5pm weekdays to assist members and prospective members of the public passenger transport industries with accreditation, licensing and vehicles enquiries.

The TCSA continues to provide assistance in completing new, renewal or cancellation of taxi leases and transfer of taxi licences and the fees for these transactions can be paid on-site. Again, there is now no need to attend multiple sites to complete your business.

What is driver accreditation?

Driver Accreditation is required under the Passenger Transport Act 1994 before a person drives a public passenger vehicle for hire, fare or reward. The applicant is required to provide a National Police Certificate and Medical and Eyesight Certificate to ensure the applicant is medically fit and of good repute.

The Accreditation and Licensing Centre of the Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure is responsible for the assessment of applicants requiring driver or operator accreditation.

Driver accreditation is an authorisation to drive a public passenger vehicle for hire, fare or reward.

Operator accreditation is an authorisation to operate a passenger transport service or operate a taxi service. The Accreditation and Licensing Centre ensures that the vehicles are of the required standard.
