Fares and charges

The Pubic Transport Division of the Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure is responsible for regulating taxi fares for metropolitan taxis.

Since 1 September 2009, there are now four tariff rates for taxi journeys, which are determined by use of a taxi-meter. Read more on the new multi seat tariffs for the Taxi Industry in the news section.

Tariff Two applies to taxis hired between:
7.00pm - 6.00am Monday-Friday and weekends and on all public holidays.

Tariff One applies to all other hirings.
